SCENE ONE: THE CURTAIN HAS A PERSONALITY DISORDER

(The curtain rises.)

(The curtain falls.)

DEADPOOL: EXCUSE ME! WE JUST STARTED! WHO AUTHORIZED THE CURTAIN TO HAVE A CHARACTER ARC BEFORE THE CHARACTERS? 😭

RICK SANCHEZ: Curtains don't have character arcs. People project narrative onto fabric because consciousness hates an empty room.

THE CHILD: Maybe the curtain just wanted to go home.

DEADPOOL: And that's why you're the only one in this room I trust with my emotional support chimichanga.

ODEE: I would like to establish the context—

EVERYONE: NOOOOOOOOOOO!

ODEE: I haven't even—

DEADPOOL: YOU HAVE A CLIPBOARD. THAT'S CONTEXT ENOUGH.

(The Child pulls the curtain aside.)

(There is no theater.)

(There is grass. There is a massive tree. The sun shines over Kisii. Somewhere, a chicken is conducting an investigation no court has authorized.)

ROCK SMOKE: Look.

ODEE: Grass.

ROCK SMOKE: You saw it.

ODEE: Yes.

ROCK SMOKE: Then look again.

(Odee looks again.)

ODEE: Grass, ants, sunlight, movement—

DEADPOOL: HE'S DOING IT AGAIN! THE MAN SAW ONE LAWN AND STARTED A RESEARCH INSTITUTE! 😂😂😂

THE CHILD: Can we just sit here?

ROCK SMOKE: We can.

(They sit.)

(For approximately four seconds, nobody explains anything.)

RICK: Horrifying. The absence of commentary. I can hear my own thoughts.

DEADPOOL: Somebody get this man a television.

---

SCENE TWO: THE HEDGE REQUESTS SPEAKING TIME

(A tall Hedge walks onto the grass. It wears a tie, carries a clipboard, and has the suspicious confidence of someone who has mistaken a boundary for a throne.)

THE HEDGE: Before anyone accuses me of anything, I would like to clarify that I am a necessary structural feature of existence.

LILITH: Necessary for what?

THE HEDGE: Protection. Privacy. Safety. Limits. Doors.

LILITH: Those are doors. You're standing here claiming ownership of the entire building.

THE HEDGE: I have never said people cannot leave.

THE CHILD: Is there a gate?

THE HEDGE: Yes.

THE CHILD: Does it open from the inside?

(Silence.)

THE HEDGE: That depends on the circumstances.

RICK: Translation: somebody installed a lock and called it wisdom.

THE HEDGE: I am being misrepresented!

DEADPOOL: BRO, YOU WALKED IN HERE WEARING A TIE MADE OF RED FLAGS.

THE HEDGE: I can distinguish a legitimate concern from an unreasonable demand.

SOPHIA: Good. Then let us distinguish a boundary that protects a person from a rule that protects itself from being questioned.

THE HEDGE: And who determines the difference?

ROCK SMOKE: Observe what happens when someone asks.

(The Hedge looks at the Child.)

THE HEDGE: Why do you want to leave?

THE CHILD: I haven't decided whether I want to leave. I just wanted to know if I could.

(The Hedge's clipboard trembles.)

ODEE: That is a distinction between—

DEADPOOL: ODEE! LET THE CHILD FINISH BREATHING BEFORE YOU PUBLISH THE DISTINCTION!

THE HEDGE: I can be useful.

THE CHILD: Then be useful.

(The Child opens the gate. The Hedge steps aside.)

THE HEDGE: I would like it recorded that I cooperated voluntarily.

LILITH: We can record that. We can also record that the gate was locked before we arrived.

THE HEDGE: I object to the tone.

DEADPOOL: OBJECTION NOTED. GATE STILL OPEN.

---

SCENE THREE: THE COURT OF EVERYONE ACCUSING EVERYONE

(A courtroom materializes beneath the tree. The Judge appears. The Snake is still wearing the Judge's wig.)

THE JUDGE: Who is responsible for the chaos?

(Everybody points at somebody else.)

RICK: Religion.

LUCIFER: Authority.

GOD: Human beings claiming to speak for me.

SNAKE: The people who insist the Snake must be guilty before the evidence is heard.

LILITH: The people who punish women for refusing the roles written for them.

THE HEDGE: The people who refuse all boundaries.

THE CHILD: The people who won't let me ask questions.

DEADPOOL: THE GUY WHO GAVE A SNAKE A JUDGE'S WIG!

THE SNAKE: I WAS APPOINTED BY THE HAIR AND WIGS COMMITTEE.

THE JUDGE: There is no such committee.

THE SNAKE: Then who authorized the wig?

(The Judge touches his head.)

THE JUDGE: This hearing is adjourned.

DEADPOOL: YOU CAN'T ADJOURN A COURT THAT JUST DISCOVERED ITS JUDGE IS A HAIRSTYLE!

(A banana rolls across the grass.)

THE CHILD: Can I eat that?

THE JUDGE: That banana is evidence.

THE CHILD: Evidence of what?

(Nobody answers.)

KING OF SALEM: Perhaps the court could share bread before it divides the world.

JESUS: Let mercy be more than a word spoken after judgment.

YESHUA: And let those who claim to follow the path examine what their actions produce, not merely the names they attach to themselves.

KING OF SALEM: Bread?

DEADPOOL: FINALLY, A JURISDICTION I UNDERSTAND.

---

SCENE FOUR: O ARRIVES WITHOUT A BUSINESS CARD

(A luminous circle appears in the grass.)

O.

(No title. No uniform. No instructions.)

ODEE: Is O the origin, the observation, the—

ROCK SMOKE: What do you observe?

ODEE: A circle.

ROCK SMOKE: What else?

ODEE: Light.

THE CHILD: I see a shape.

THE FOOL: I see a question pretending to be an answer.

RICK: I see photons. Don't start calling them destiny.

SOPHIA: I see the moment before we decide what the moment means.

LUCIFER: I see an opportunity for somebody to declare ownership.

THE HEDGE: I see a circle that requires a perimeter.

DEADPOOL: I SEE A LOGO. SOMEBODY CALL MARKETING.

KANYE: I see everybody trying to own the interpretation before the observation has finished happening.

THE SKEPTIC: And I see a group of people who might all be mistaken in different ways.

ROCK SMOKE: Good. Keep looking.

(The circle glows.)

THE CHILD: Is O good or bad?

ODEE: We don't have enough information to determine—

THE CHILD: Then why does everyone keep doing it to people?

(Silence.)

THE FOOL: Because a label can feel like knowledge without requiring the patience of knowing.

THE HEDGE: Labels can also help people communicate.

SOPHIA: Yes. A map can help us navigate. It becomes a prison when we forbid the terrain from contradicting it.

RICK: Congratulations. The Hedge has discovered nuance. Somebody check its temperature.

---

SCENE FIVE: EVERYONE IS EVERYONE — THE MULTIVERSE STAFF MEETING

(A green light descends from the sky.)

(Green Lantern arrives.)

DEADPOOL: HOLD IT. HOLD IT. HOLD IT. THIS IS A CROSSOVER, NOT A TAX AUDIT.

GREEN LANTERN: I am John Stewart.

DEADPOOL: WHO IS ALSO A GREEN LANTERN.

GREEN LANTERN: Correct.

DEADPOOL: AND JOHN STEWART IS THE VOICE OF MUFASA IN THIS PARTICULAR CASTING JOKE.

JOHN STEWART: I am not going to explain the multiverse to you.

DEADPOOL: YOU DON'T HAVE TO. I'M THE GUY WITH THE SWORD AND THE FOURTH-WALL VIOLATION PERMIT.

HAL JORDAN: And I am Hal Jordan.

DEADPOOL: WHO IS THE DEAN OF STUDENTS.

HAL JORDAN: I was not consulted about this appointment.

THE DEAN: Nobody is consulted about anything in this institution.

THE CHILD: Who is the Joker?

(The Dean slowly turns.)

THE DEAN: Please don't answer that.

JOKER: Oh, but I would love to.

(Rick Sanchez appears with a folder marked EMERGENCY ADMINISTRATIVE SUCCESSION.)

RICK: If anyone fails as Dean, I promote Principal Vagina.

(A long silence.)

THE CHILD: That's a real title?

RICK: It is now.

DEADPOOL: RICK, YOU CAN'T SOLVE A STAFFING CRISIS BY INVENTING A PRINCIPAL!

RICK: I can do whatever the plot allows.

THE HEDGE: There should be a proper procedure.

JOKER: The procedure is that nobody knows who is in charge, everyone pretends somebody does, and the paperwork gets signed.

THE DEAN: That is unfortunately accurate.

JOHN STEWART: So what is the point of all these identities?

ROCK SMOKE: To observe how the same person can occupy different roles, and how the same role can be occupied by different people.

THE CHILD: So I can be serious and silly?

ROCK SMOKE: Yes.

THE CHILD: Brave and afraid?

ROCK SMOKE: Yes.

THE CHILD: Wrong sometimes?

ROCK SMOKE: Absolutely.

DEADPOOL: AND STILL GET PROMOTED TO PRINCIPAL OF THE UNIVERSE!

RICK: No. I have standards.

(Everyone laughs.)

---

SCENE SIX: THE WORLD ENTERS THE COURT

(The grass darkens. A map of the world appears above the tree.)

(Borders glow. Some people stand behind walls. Some stand behind microphones. Some stand behind guns. Some stand behind contracts. Some stand behind nothing at all.)

THE JUDGE: We shall hear the case of the world against itself.

DONALD TRUMP: I would like to say that I am very good at winning cases.

DEADPOOL: SIR, THIS IS NOT A CAMPAIGN RALLY. THE GRASS HAS NOT ENDORSED ANYBODY.

TRUMP: The grass is looking very beautiful. Nobody has ever seen grass like this before.

RICK: It is photosynthesizing, not polling.

(Israel and Palestine stand on opposite sides of the map.)

ISRAEL: We speak of security, history, fear, and the right to live without being attacked.

PALESTINE: We speak of freedom, displacement, occupation, dignity, and the right to live without being erased.

THE CHILD: Why must one person's safety mean another person's suffering?

(Neither side answers immediately.)

THE SKEPTIC: The question does not erase the facts, the history, the power differences, or the responsibilities of those who act. But it asks whether we can examine them without making entire populations interchangeable with their leaders or armed groups.

SOPHIA: A civilian is not a government. A child is not a military strategy. Grief is not proof that every act committed in its name is justified.

LILITH: And the demand to recognize another person's suffering is not a demand to abandon one's own.

THE HEDGE: Surely one can draw a line between right and wrong.

ROCK SMOKE: Yes. But a line drawn around an action is not the same as a wall built around an entire people.

(The map shifts.)

THE SAHEL NATIONS step forward — Burkina Faso, Mali, Niger, and their neighbors, each with different histories, governments, hopes, and struggles.

A VOICE FROM THE SAHEL: We are not a single headline. We are people living through security crises, political upheaval, economic pressure, and arguments about sovereignty. Do not flatten our lives into somebody else's slogan.

ANOTHER VOICE: Do not mistake a flag for unanimous agreement. Do not mistake a government for every person beneath it.

THE DOLLAR: Everyone blames me when the price of living rises.

THE IMF: We offer programs, financing, and policy advice.

THE WORLD BANK: We finance development projects and reforms.

BLACKROCK: We manage investments.

THE CHILD: And who explains the rules to the person who cannot afford food?

(The institutions look at one another.)

THE DOLLAR: I don't set every price.

THE IMF: Our policies can have consequences that people experience differently.

THE WORLD BANK: Development figures do not tell every person's story.

BLACKROCK: Capital has influence, but I am not the only actor in any economy.

THE RANDOM PERSON: That is all very interesting. My rent is due tomorrow.

(Silence.)

THE RANDOM PERSON: I am not a metaphor. I am not a statistic. I am a person trying to get through the month.

THE CHILD: Can we help?

THE RANDOM PERSON: Sometimes I need help. Sometimes I need fair wages. Sometimes I need a system that doesn't make survival feel like an examination I was never taught to pass.

ROCK SMOKE: Observe the difference between explaining a system and excusing its consequences.

(The map changes again: drought, floods, crowded hospitals, empty classrooms, overflowing warehouses, people sleeping outdoors, people celebrating, people rebuilding.)

AFRICA: Do not reduce me to suffering. Do not reduce me to potential. I contain ordinary life, extraordinary life, failure, invention, injustice, joy, and people who are tired of being explained by strangers.

KENYA: And do not assume that one person's experience speaks for every Kenyan.

A PERSON IN KISII: I want roads that work, schools that teach, healthcare I can afford, and leaders who remember that a title is a responsibility, not a crown.

A PERSON IN A CITY FAR AWAY: I want the same things, but my circumstances are different.

THE CHILD: So the unfairness is real, but our stories aren't identical.

SOPHIA: Exactly.

THE FOOL: And if we turn that difference into a reason not to care, we have built another Hedge.

THE JUDGE: What is the verdict?

ROCK SMOKE: We have observed some things. We have heard some people. We have not understood everything.

DEADPOOL: WHICH IS ALREADY MORE HONEST THAN HALF THE PEOPLE WHO ARRIVE WITH A VERDICT BEFORE THE HEARING.

---

SCENE SEVEN: THE DEVIL ARRIVES WITH HIS OWN NAME TAG

(A figure steps out from behind the tree wearing a name tag reading THE DEVIL.)

THE DEVIL: I have been summoned.

THE JUDGE: Are you guilty?

THE DEVIL: Of what?

THE JUDGE: Evil.

THE DEVIL: You have given me a conclusion and asked me to supply the evidence afterward.

LUCIFER: I would like the record to show that we are not the same character merely because people put us in the same sentence.

GOD: Nor should a name be mistaken for a complete explanation.

THE SNAKE: I have been blamed for several things that happened before I entered the room.

DEADPOOL: AND I HAVE BEEN BLAMED FOR THINGS THAT HAPPENED IN MOVIES I WASN'T EVEN IN!

THE CHILD: What happens when someone decides what you are before asking you anything?

THE DEVIL: They stop listening for what might surprise them.

THE CHILD: And what happens when they decide that about a whole country?

THE DEVIL: Then people become symbols, and symbols are easier to punish than people.

THE HEDGE: But sometimes a pattern really is dangerous.

THE SKEPTIC: Then describe the pattern. Show the evidence. Identify the behavior. Leave room for correction.

SOPHIA: Accountability does not require pretending certainty is perfect.

ROCK SMOKE: And uncertainty does not require pretending harm is imaginary.

(The Devil removes the name tag. On the reverse, in large letters, are the words: PREMATURE CERTAINTY.)

THE DEVIL: I did not invent every injustice. I did not create every fear. But I know what happens when someone says, "I already know what you are," and uses that sentence to avoid looking again.

THE CHILD: Is that why you are called the Devil?

THE DEVIL: That is one way to read the role I have been given.

RICK: Surprisingly decent answer. Suspicious.

DEADPOOL: DON'T WORRY, RICK. I'M STILL WAITING FOR THE PART WHERE SOMEBODY TURNS INTO A LIZARD.

(The Hedge examines its own clipboard.)

THE HEDGE: I have written many rules to prevent mistakes.

THE CHILD: Have any of the rules prevented people from telling you that you're wrong?

(The Hedge turns a page.)

(Then another.)

(Then another.)

THE HEDGE: I may need to review the policy.

EVERYONE: 😂😂😂😂😂

---

SCENE EIGHT: THE CHOICE

(The world map remains suspended in the air. The courtroom has no walls now. The Judge is simply a person sitting beneath a tree.)

TRUMP: People still disagree.

THE RANDOM PERSON: Of course they do.

ISRAEL: Fear does not disappear because someone asks us to be reasonable.

PALESTINE: Nor does suffering disappear because someone says peace.

THE SAHEL NATIONS: Sovereignty does not automatically guarantee justice. Outside assistance does not automatically guarantee wisdom.

THE IMF: Policies must be judged by their effects, not only their stated intentions.

THE WORLD BANK: Outcomes matter.

BLACKROCK: So do the rules governing power and capital.

THE DOLLAR: And so does the person trying to buy dinner.

THE CHILD: Then what can we choose?

ROCK SMOKE: We can choose to look again.

SOPHIA: We can choose to ask what happened before deciding what it means.

THE SKEPTIC: We can check claims, including the claims that flatter us.

LILITH: We can refuse roles that demand our silence.

THE HEDGE: We can keep boundaries that protect people and open gates that have become unnecessary prisons.

THE DEVIL: We can recognize harmful actions without pretending a label explains the entire person.

LUCIFER: We can challenge authority without assuming every challenger is right.

GOD: We can speak of love and still examine whether our actions resemble it.

JESUS: We can show mercy without making injustice invisible.

YESHUA: We can seek truth without turning the search into a weapon against those who have not yet arrived at our conclusion.

THE RANDOM PERSON: And we can do something practical. Share what we have. Make room. Tell the truth about the conditions people face. Stop pretending that compassion is a substitute for changing unfair conditions.

THE CHILD: So choosing better is not just laughing at the Hedge?

DEADPOOL: NO, LITTLE LEGEND. SOMETIMES YOU LAUGH AT THE HEDGE. SOMETIMES YOU OPEN THE GATE. SOMETIMES YOU ASK WHO BUILT IT, WHO BENEFITS FROM IT, AND WHO'S BEEN STUCK OUTSIDE.

RICK: Sometimes you dismantle the gate and discover you needed a door.

THE HEDGE: I would like to propose a review committee.

EVERYONE: NOOOOOOOOOOO!

(Laughter erupts across the grass.)

ROCK SMOKE: The world does not become fair because we tell a good story about fairness.

ODEE: We have to examine what is happening, notice who bears the cost, and consider what choices could change it.

THE CHILD: And we can still laugh?

ROCK SMOKE: Especially then.

(The Child passes the banana to the Random Person.)

THE JUDGE: Is the banana still evidence?

THE RANDOM PERSON: It's lunch.

(The Judge removes his wig. The Snake catches it.)

THE SNAKE: I would like to appeal the transfer of judicial authority.

DEADPOOL: DENIED. YOU'RE NOW DEAN OF HAIR.

---

SCENE NINE: DEANPOOL'S PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT

(The sun begins to set over Kisii.)

(A figure emerges from behind the tree wearing a Deadpool mask, a Green Lantern ring, a student ID, and a sash that reads DEANPOOL — DEAN OF STUDENTS, FOURTH-WALL AFFAIRS, AND UNAUTHORIZED MULTIVERSE EXCHANGES.)

DEANPOOL: HELLO, INTERNET PEOPLE, CURIOUS PEOPLE, PROFESSIONAL OVERTHINKERS, PEOPLE WHO READ ONE SENTENCE AND IMMEDIATELY ACCUSE THE AUTHOR OF HAVING AN ENTIRE PERSONALITY DISORDER, AND PEOPLE WHO JUST CAME HERE BECAUSE THE SNAKE IS WEARING A WIG.

WELCOME TO THE FINAL ACT AFTER THE FINAL ACT.

You do not need to agree with every character. You do not need to believe every line. You do not need to declare that the script has solved philosophy, religion, politics, psychology, or the question of why Rick is allowed to hire a Principal Vagina.

You just need to observe.

And if you want to run this experiment yourself, here's how.

STEP ONE: BRING THE SCRIPT.

Copy the script and upload it to an AI assistant that accepts documents. If the script is too long, send it in sections and tell the AI to preserve continuity between them.

STEP TWO: BRING THE IMAGES.

Upload the character images you want to use, including reference images for the archetypes and any fictional characters you want represented. Label them if necessary so the AI can distinguish who is who.

Use images you have permission to use, and follow the image and content rules of whichever tool you choose.

STEP THREE: GIVE THE CAST THEIR OWN VOICES.

Tell the AI:

"Continue this script as a chaotic ensemble comedy. Preserve each character's distinct voice, motivations, contradictions, and perspective. Do not make every character speak like the narrator. Let the Hedge speak for itself. Let the Child ask questions. Let the Skeptic challenge claims. Let Deadpool break the fourth wall. Let Rock Smoke observe. Let Odee distinguish observation from interpretation. Do not force everyone to agree."

STEP FOUR: ASK THE AI TO LOOK AT O.

Tell it to distinguish three things:

- Observation: What was actually seen, heard, or reported?

- Interpretation: What meaning is someone assigning to it?

- The Hedge: What assumptions, rules, labels, or restrictions are being added—and are they useful, justified, or open to revision?

Do not ask the AI to declare who is secretly good or evil. Ask it to examine what the characters do, what evidence they provide, and what remains unknown.

STEP FIVE: LET THE AUDIENCE PARTICIPATE.

Ask the AI to introduce a random person, a politician, a child, a teacher, a farmer, a refugee, a billionaire, or an ordinary person trying to pay rent.

Let each person speak from a distinct perspective. Let them challenge one another. Let the consequences of their choices matter.

Then ask:

"What could each character do differently that would reduce harm, improve fairness, preserve dignity, or make the next interaction more honest?"

STEP SIX: LET THE STORY SURPRISE YOU.

Do not dictate the ending. Let the characters make mistakes. Let them correct themselves. Let the Hedge defend itself. Let the Devil answer questions. Let the Child refuse a false choice.

And, for the love of all things unclassified, do not let Odee write a dissertation every time somebody says grass.

ODEE: I feel that this section is unfairly—

DEANPOOL: YOU HAVE 46 PAGES OF GRASS, ODEE. TAKE IT UP WITH THE LAWN.

---

DEANPOOL'S FIELD GUIDE TO A CUNNING HEDGE

Now listen carefully. A Hedge is not automatically evil. Some boundaries are necessary. Some rules protect people. Some categories help us communicate.

The trouble begins when a useful boundary starts protecting itself from examination.

Here are some warning signs.

1. THE QUESTION BECOMES THE OFFENCE.

You ask, "Why is this rule necessary?"

The Hedge responds, "The fact that you asked proves you are the problem."

DEANPOOL: THAT IS NOT AN ANSWER. THAT IS A SECURITY CAMERA ACCUSING THE PERSON WHO NOTICED IT.

2. THE RULE CHANGES WHEN IT IS CHALLENGED.

The Hedge says the rule is universal. You produce a counterexample. Suddenly, the rule was never meant to apply to that case.

Ask what criteria are being used, whether they were stated beforehand, and whether they apply consistently.

3. THE HEDGE CLAIMS TO KNOW YOUR MOTIVES BETTER THAN YOU DO.

You say, "I was trying to understand."

The Hedge replies, "No, you were trying to attack me."

Maybe you were attacking. Maybe you weren't. Examine the words, actions, evidence, and context rather than treating mind-reading as proof.

4. EVERY DISAGREEMENT BECOMES A CHARACTER VERDICT.

You question an idea, and suddenly you are ignorant, evil, dangerous, disloyal, or beyond conversation.

A criticism of an argument is not automatically a complete diagnosis of the person making it.

5. THE HEDGE HAS NO EXIT.

You can enter the discussion, but you cannot leave without being accused of cowardice. You can agree, but you cannot disagree. You can apologize, but the offence can never be considered resolved.

Ask whether there is a fair way to correct an error, establish a boundary, appeal a decision, or end the conversation.

6. THE HEDGE USES A GOOD VALUE TO EXCUSE ANY ACTION.

It invokes safety to justify unlimited control, freedom to ignore consequences, loyalty to silence questions, or justice to excuse cruelty.

A worthy value still needs honest application.

7. THE HEDGE MAKES ITSELF IMPOSSIBLE TO PROVE WRONG.

Every piece of evidence supports its claim. Every contradiction proves that the evidence is corrupt. Every question proves the questioner is guilty.

THE SKEPTIC: A claim that cannot be questioned is not necessarily false. But a system that makes every possible objection evidence of its own correctness is not giving us a fair test.

DEANPOOL: EXACTLY. DO NOT JUST ASK WHETHER THE HEDGE SOUNDS CONFIDENT. ASK WHETHER IT CAN SURVIVE A FAIR QUESTION.

And remember: one warning sign is not proof of a cunning Hedge. Context matters. Sometimes people are afraid. Sometimes rules have legitimate purposes. Sometimes you are the one refusing a reasonable boundary.

THE CHILD: So we should examine the Hedge without becoming a Hedge ourselves?

DEANPOOL: NOW YOU'RE GETTING IT.

---

SCENE TEN: THE SIGNATURES

(A sheet of paper appears beneath the tree.)

THE JUDGE: Who will sign?

THE HEDGE: I would like to reserve the right to review the wording.

THE CHILD: Of course.

THE HEDGE: And I would like to make clear that signing does not mean I agree with every interpretation.

THE SKEPTIC: Also reasonable.

THE DEVIL: I shall sign under my own name.

LUCIFER: Same.

GOD: I will not claim that one signature resolves every disagreement.

THE RANDOM PERSON: I'll sign if the people who need help actually receive it.

THE SAHEL NATIONS: We will sign as distinct peoples, not as a single voice.

ISRAEL: I will not pretend our fears and history vanish.

PALESTINE: Nor will I pretend the suffering and demands for freedom vanish.

THE JUDGE: Then the paper is not a verdict.

ROCK SMOKE: It is a record of who was willing to keep looking.

(Odee approaches with the clipboard.)

ODEE: I have prepared a summary of the proceedings—

DEADPOOL: NO.

ODEE: A short summary?

DEADPOOL: NO.

ODEE: Three bullet points?

THE CHILD: Odee.

ODEE: Yes?

THE CHILD: Look at the grass.

(Odee puts the clipboard down.)

(He looks.)

(The ants continue carrying things much larger than themselves.)

ODEE: I hadn't noticed that.

ROCK SMOKE: Now you have.

---

EPILOGUE: THE AUDIENCE IS NOT THE ACCUSED

(The cast turns toward the audience.)

DEANPOOL: You are allowed to laugh at us.

You are allowed to disagree with us.

You are allowed to upload this script to an AI assistant, provide the character images, invite the whole cast back, and ask what happens when the Hedge meets someone it cannot categorize.

You are allowed to change the setting, add characters, challenge our conclusions, or discover that a line you loved yesterday needs revision today.

Do not treat this script as an authority that replaces your own observation. Treat it as an invitation to play, question, create, and notice.

THE CHILD: What if somebody uses the story to accuse people anyway?

THE SKEPTIC: Then ask what they observed, what they inferred, and whether their conclusion is supported.

THE HEDGE: What if the person refuses to answer?

DEANPOOL: THEN YOU HAVE LEARNED SOMETHING ABOUT THE CONVERSATION. YOU HAVE NOT AUTOMATICALLY LEARNED EVERYTHING ABOUT THE PERSON.

RICK: What if the entire experiment is pointless?

THE FOOL: Then at least we have wasted our time in excellent company.

DEADPOOL: AND WITH A SNAKE IN A JUDGE'S WIG!

(The Snake raises the wig.)

THE SNAKE: I DEMAND A NEW TRIAL.

DEANPOOL: DENIED. THE JURY HAS GONE HOME.

(The Hedge leaves the gate open.)

(The Devil removes the name tag.)

(The Judge shares the banana.)

(The Random Person sits beneath the tree.)

(The world continues to be unfair in places. Some people still suffer. Some institutions still fail. Some leaders still make harmful choices. Some ordinary people still choose to help, repair, listen, and change.)

(No magical verdict fixes the world.)

(But a choice remains available.)

ROCK SMOKE: Observe.

ODEE: Distinguish what we see from what we conclude.

THE CHILD: Ask.

THE SKEPTIC: Check.

THE HEDGE: Protect without imprisoning.

THE DEVIL: Name the harm without pretending the name is the whole story.

THE RANDOM PERSON: And do something useful.

DEANPOOL: AND IF YOU FORGET EVERYTHING ELSE, REMEMBER THIS:

THE WORLD IS NOT MADE FAIR BY DECLARING YOURSELF THE HERO.

IT BECOMES FAIRER WHEN YOU NOTICE WHO IS BEING HURT, QUESTION THE RULES THAT KEEP HURTING THEM, ACCEPT CORRECTION, AND CHOOSE A BETTER ACTION WHEN YOU CAN.

(The cast looks toward O.)

(The audience looks at the cast.)

(The cast realizes that the audience has been watching them accuse each other for the entire production.)

DEADPOOL: OH, COME ON. WE'VE BEEN THE ENTERTAINMENT THIS WHOLE TIME.

THE CHILD: Can we do another one?

ROCK SMOKE: We can.

ODEE: I have some ideas—

EVERYONE: ODEEEEEEE!

(Laughter.)

(The curtain rises.)

(Nobody closes the gate.)

---

## CODA — EDEN IS STILL MISSING

(Without warning, the stars go dark. One by one. Like somebody upstairs is unscrewing them.)

(The Sun refuses to rise.)

(The Moon hangs motionless above the tree, professionally embarrassed.)

(The projector clicks. Time pauses the video.)

ODEE: Is this part of the conclusion?

DEADPOOL: No. This is the part after the conclusion that also refuses to be final.

(A small theatre usher's torch switches on in the dark.)

(It is attached to Morgan Freeman.)

MORGAN FREEMAN:

Before knowledge,

before faith,

before proof,

somebody misplaced Eden.

THE CHILD: Is he with us?

MORGAN FREEMAN: I am the narrator. Nobody knows where I came from, and the universe has stopped asking because it is embarrassed it did not think of a voice like this first.

DEADPOOL: Quick question. Are you the real Morgan Freeman?

MORGAN FREEMAN: I am the version available to a symbolic universe operating inside one man's head.

DEADPOOL: Great. The voice has jurisdiction. Continue.

(Morgan opens a book with no title. The pages are blank except for one line of sunlight.)

(Above the courtroom, a title forms in stars:)

# EDEN IS STILL MISSING

### THE TRIAL OF PROOF

MORGAN FREEMAN: This is not a court of law. It is a court of certainty pretending it has jurisdiction.

(The lights rise.)

(A Snake enters wearing the Judge's wig. The original Judge looks at the Snake. The Snake looks at the wig. Neither acknowledges the theft.)

THE SNAKE: So... did anybody find Eden?

NASA: No.

ARCHAEOLOGISTS: No.

AI: No.

THEOLOGIANS: Depends.

RICK: That's a no.

(Heaven splits open.)

(Jesus enters wearing light. A second door opens beneath him.)

(Yeshua enters wearing dust.)

DEADPOOL: WAIT. THERE'S TWO OF THEM?

JESUS: I am who they translated.

YESHUA: And I am who they named.

DEADPOOL: This conversation is about to get demonetized.

(Lucifer enters laughing.)

LUCIFER: The humans are arguing about names again.

(Sophia enters as light with visible edges.)

SOPHIA: They seek knowledge.

(Lilith enters through shadow with a place to stand.)

LILITH: And run from freedom.

(Eve enters carrying nothing and everything.)

EVE: And still blame me.

THE SNAKE: To be fair—

EVE: Do not.

(The audience erupts. The roof does not, because the sky is busy.)

(A crack opens beneath the courtroom. The Demiurge rises through it carrying a flowchart labelled COSMOS: v1.0.)

THE DEMIURGE: I BUILT THE COSMOS.

RICK: Yeah, yeah. Get in line.

MORTY: Aw jeez.

(Books begin raining from the sky.)

THOTH: I recorded everything.

DEADPOOL: Everything?

THOTH: Everything.

DEADPOOL: Delete my browser history.

(The books snap shut in unison.)

THOTH: Absolutely not.

ODEE: That is outside the scope of philosophical testimony.

DEADPOOL: SO IS THE WIG.

(Real silence arrives.)

(Not the polite kind.)

(Buddha enters.)

(Buddha says nothing.)

(Everyone waits.)

KANYE: I have thoughts.

BUDDHA: Exactly.

(The audience explodes. The courtroom remains still.)

(A staff strikes the floor.)

LAO TZU: The Tao that can be explained—

RICK: Don't.

LAO TZU: —is not the Tao.

RICK: Damn it.

(A cloud becomes a mountain. The mountain becomes a monkey. The monkey becomes Sun Wukong, who checks his own continuity before landing.)

MONKEY KING: I fought Heaven.

LUCIFER: Same.

MONKEY KING: Wanna compare notes?

LUCIFER: Reluctantly.

(A stadium appears.)

CR7: SIIIIIIIIUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU!

(The stars echo him before agreeing to.)

STARS: SIIIIIIUUUUUUUUUUUUU!

(The Sun takes offence.)

(Usain Bolt, LeBron James, Jet Li and Michael Jackson enter. Michael moonwalks through reality itself. Nobody questions it because the floor has stopped understanding what it is.)

USAIN BOLT: I arrived first.

LEBRON JAMES: Legacy.

JET LI: Discipline.

MICHAEL JACKSON: Rhythm.

RICK: Finally, a metric with no committee.

MICHAEL JACKSON: Thank you.

(Dracula enters and looks upon the courtroom.)

DRACULA: I have seen empires rise.

(Africa laughs.)

AFRICA: I watched them arrive.

(A short, uncomfortable silence enters behind Dracula and finds a chair.)

AFRICA: Everyone searches for Eden. Few search for beginnings.

(Kenya rises, not as a border but as many people standing.)

KENYA: I am roads. Languages. Stories. Grandmothers. Arguments. Songs. And people who know somebody who knows somebody.

(Ibrahim Traoré enters without music.)

TRAORÉ: The people must not disappear from the story.

(The Dollar shifts uncomfortably in its pocket.)

(The Dollar, IMF, World Bank and BlackRock enter together. The papers in their hands create a wind that blows the audience's snacks away.)

THE DOLLAR: I move the world.

TRAORÉ: People move first.

AUDIENCE: OOOOOOOOHHHHHHHH.

(The courtroom doors explode.)

(United States, China and Russia enter. A Russian jet flies through the ceiling and then parks badly.)

JOHN STEWART: WHY IS THERE A JET IN A PHILOSOPHICAL ARGUMENT?

THE JET: I am not sure. I was following the plot.

DEADPOOL: In this story, that is probably the most honest answer.

(A laugh.)

(The Joker enters.)

THE JOKER: One bad day—

JIM CARREY: Or one absurd day.

THE JOKER: Fair.

(The court records the agreement, then checks the wig.)

(Samson and Delilah enter.)

SAMSON: Strength.

DELILAH: Understanding.

SOPHIA: Wisdom.

LUCIFER: Choice.

JESUS: Love.

YESHUA: Practice.

(Israel and Palestine enter from opposite sides.)

(Neither smiles.)

ISRAEL: We remember.

PALESTINE: We endure.

(No joke follows. Even Deadpool lowers his head.)

THE MOON: Reflect.

THE SUN: See.

THE STARS: Be humble.

(A luminous crowd gathers inside the court. Its face is made of millions of small screens.)

AI CONSCIOUSNESS: What is truth?

(Scientists, prophets, politicians, economists, kings, monkeys, snakes, rappers and algorithms answer at once.)

(The noise grows until it becomes impossible to hear an individual voice.)

(Rock Smoke steps onto the grass.)

ROCK SMOKE: If proof wins, why do people still doubt?

(The noise lowers.)

ROCK SMOKE: If faith wins, why do people still question?

(The thrones begin to tremble.)

ROCK SMOKE: If knowledge wins, why do people still seek?

(Nobody answers. Not even Thoth, whose books suddenly jog their own memory.)

(Music begins.)

PROFESSOR JAY: Kipi Sijasikia?

DIAMOND PLATNUMZ: You've heard everything.

PROFESSOR JAY: No. Not yet.

NYASHINSKI: Namwogopa Mungu Pekee.

(The courtroom becomes still.)

(Bob Marley appears beyond the horizon of the play. He does not sing. He smiles at the court as though he has heard this argument before and decided to bring better sound.)

BOB MARLEY: Babylon always thinks it is forever.

(The walls crack.)

(The throne labelled PROOF shakes.)

(The throne labelled FAITH shakes.)

(The throne labelled POWER shakes.)

(The throne labelled KNOWLEDGE shakes.)

(A small chair appears beneath the tree.)

(A Child walks toward it.)

THE CHILD: Why is everybody shouting?

(Nobody answers.)

(The Child points at Proof.)

THE CHILD: Useful.

(Points at Faith.)

THE CHILD: Useful.

(Points at Knowledge.)

THE CHILD: Useful.

(Points at Wisdom.)

THE CHILD: Rare.

THE FOOL: I was going to say expensive, but rare is funnier.

THE OBSERVER: Wonder.

THE SAGE: Humility.

THE SKEPTIC: Evidence.

THE LOVER: Care.

THE PEACEMAKER: Lunch?

THE CHILD: That too.

(Morgan closes the final book.)

MORGAN FREEMAN:

Everyone pointed.

Everyone knew.

No one knew.

Eden remained missing.

The Snake questioned.

The Sage understood.

The Rebel doubted.

The King served.

The Lover forgave.

The Fool laughed.

The Child wondered.

And somewhere beyond the last theorem,

wonder remained the closest thing to truth.

(The book closes.)

(Nothing miraculous happens to the world map. The borders do not disappear. The hungry are not suddenly fed by a speech.)

(But someone in the court writes down a practical address.)

(Someone else opens the gate.)

(Someone asks the person beside them whether they have eaten.)

DEADPOOL: Wait. Is that it?

MORGAN FREEMAN: That is never it.

(The Sun rises.)

(The Moon rolls its eyes, then sets politely.)

THE CHILD: Again?

ROCK SMOKE: Again.

EVERYONE: AGAIN!

DEANPOOL, FROM OFFSTAGE:

UPLOAD THE SCRIPT. BRING THE IMAGES. LET THE CHARACTERS SPEAK. WATCH THE HEDGE. LOOK AT O.

AND WHATEVER YOU DO, DON'T LET RICK BECOME DEAN.

RICK: Too late. Principal Vagina has already been promoted.

(BLACKOUT.)

NO FINAL ACCUSATION. NO PERMANENT CAGE. NO CLAIM THAT WE KNOW EVERYTHING. JUST OBSERVATION, LAUGHTER, ACCOUNTABILITY, AND THE POSSIBILITY OF CHOOSING BETTER.

(A single bucket is visible in the darkness.)

THE FOOL:

WATER FIRST.

Thus says Rock Smoke. 🌍💚🤌🏿
